Farewell to Chocolate Arts

(Just so it’s clear, Chocolate Arts has announced its closure months ago so it’s not due to the current pandemic.)

I remember the very first time coming to Chocolate Arts was a few years ago, right when Hot Chocolate Festival (www.hotchocolatefest.com) was happening (around end of January to mid February, usually ends on Valentine’s Day). It has always been the favourite time of the year for me as it is a good excuse for me to go all out to try out different innovative specialty hot chocolate that different chocolatiers came up with! See below for yourself 🙂 Back in 2018 Chocolate Arts came up with 3 totally different drinks that featured flavours of beets, carrots, and blueberries. How cool is that!

It was a new finding for me and I was so excited for this discovery! Located on a somewhat quiet street (unlike 4th Ave. or Broadway), Chocolate Arts was like a dessert oasis that gives excitement for the local neighbourhood.

The Final Days

This Saturday me and my friend arrived at Chocolate Arts (@chocolateartsvancouver) almost right at noon (when they opened) and there were already about 8 to 10 people waiting in line! (With two metres away from one another of course, for social distancing).

Lucky us! The owner and head chocolatier Greg Hook came out to meet the crowd, saying his thank you and appreciation and answered questions we might have. Very sweet of him! He mentioned that store closing is not due to retirement, but for focusing on other things he wants to do that he couldn’t do before. We will definitely miss you and the delicious chocolate

Because of social distancing plus the big crowd in lineup, we actually waited for roughly 1 hour 30 minutes to finally get in (so 1:30pm). They still had pretty much a huge selection of chocolats truffles (thank god!) and I selected a few for myself and my friend. I also ended up grabbing some chocolate bars to save them for later when I need to be reminded of this wonderful chocolate gem that once existed! ❤️

Lastly, BIG THANK YOU again for all the chocolate goodies you have made that brightened my days over the past years! You’ll definitely be missed!!!
