During the day, me and my friend went to the “Road to Hana” tour in a small group, we started the day super early from the Seaside Hotel, and off we went to Hana for our very first day in Maui! Weather was absolutely gorgeous and we could not ask for more 😀 If you want to hear more about our journey, leave a comment below to let me know and stay tuned for a detailed description about our day!
After picking up the rental car from the Maui Kahului Airport (OGG), we decided to find something near our hotel for dinner, since we were super hungry at this point and we both were not picky at all – we just wanted to fill our stomach to the fullest with great Hawaiian food that we can find! With a quick online search, we came to Da Kitchen because of 3000+ reviews on Google 🙂
Service
Once we walked in, we only waited for about 5 minutes and we were brought to a table. It was quite busy with most tables filled up but we were lucky that we didn’t need to wait for long. Our server was very responsive and friendly in taking our order and we didn’t need to wait a long time for her to come back, which is always great!
Taste & Price
Fried Spam Musubi ($6.25)
Did you know that spams are so common in Hawaii and that people love it? We ordered the fried spam musubi, which basically means the spam being rolled in sushi style – with rice and nori (Japanese seaweed), having it deep fried with drizzled teriyaki sauce. I found the bread coating was a bit too thick and it made it not as crunchy and crispy as I expected. Overall it was not too bad and it was filling.
Ube & pineapple soft serve
When I think of Hawaii, the first thing (dessert-related!) that comes to my mind is: PINEAPPLE! So of course when there is a dessert highlighting pineapple, I am going to pick it! Here we have the ube & pineapple soft serve ice cream!
I have to say, the flavors were impeccable! Colours were super vibrant and it was already an eye-candy to look at once it arrived on our table 🙂 Both pineapple and ube flavours really stood out, making the whole ice cream really enjoyable all the way till the last spoon! Definitely one of my favourite desserts I had for the entire trip!
